Renegade Wrap-Up
Well I am back home and into my daily routine again, if that’s what you can call it. Though I missed home and am happy to be back a part of me misses NY. Brooklyn was incredible, it was an amazing melting pot with a hip urban feel. I was discussing the neighborhood with friends who complained its becoming to trendy to live there and now quickly becoming over crowded. I don’t live there and do not know how significant this complaint is but I for one was enamored. I could however due without the sweltering heat but a small price to pay for such an enchanting experience.
My first night in town I ate at a quaint Thai place , mental note: Midwest medium is Fire HOT in Brooklyn. Though the flavor was yummy my taste buds were numb for some time after. That night I stopped in at a bakery just down from the Thai place (the name of which escapes me) and had a delicious eclair.
The next morning I arrived at McCarren Park to a sea of tents. There I was, it really hit me at that moment. I drove to NYC to sell my art! As I quickly unloaded my double parked car onto the curb a near by seller of wares unloaded her car. “Are you Orangewillow?”, she asked. I stood there looking dumbfounded, not sure what to say. It was so surreal. She then went on to explain she had purchased a print of mine and loved reading my blog! Of course this rocketed my excitement into overdrive.
I was super pleased with my tent setup but not so pleased with my tent location. I unfortunately was given the back right hand corner. With the oppressing heat many people didn’t make it to my tent before giving into the exhaustion. Overall however I would easily classify my first craft fair as a complete success. I sold out of four prints the first day and another six the second day. My sewing however was put to shame by the master seamstress’ that surrounded me so in the future I think I will save my time and focus on my art. My human hybrid art was well received which I was thrilled about since I adore it so much and it hasn’t found a home yet on etsy yet.
I brought 25 originals with me and left with half that! Very good considering I debated on not bringing them at all! I plan on making my originals a regular at future shows. I am currently missing Bumblebee Queen a lot. She was my four foot beauty and on day two she found a new home. After the wonderful end I had a delicious dinner at Enids near the park.
There were so many other divine crafters at the fair its hard to only name a few so I will list my favorites.
Fern animals
There was also a cool metal bender but I didn’t catch her name. I included a picture of her work thanks to flickr, please, if you know who she is leave a comment. Her work is on my wish list. These three gal’s creatures were calling to me and letting me know they belonged on my ark.
