Frustration Mounts

Category: Uncategorized Published: 12:10 am Comments:

So I have been working on illustrating my children’s book and I am INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED. I drew the main character and loved her. She was a sweet curly headed irish girl much like someone I know. She charmed me right off and I was full of energy to move to the next illustration. Unfortunately the next one involved drawing a scene with several children in it and I just can’t seem to get it how I like. Thats when I really began examining the book and most of the scenes involve a large number of children. Ugh! Now all I can think is how each page will give me this frustration.

I had another story in the works that only involves a couple children and then mostly animals and creatures. The writing is not completed however so it seems a waste to work on it before I finish the book about Maggie McGee. The problem is I want to throw the Maggie story accross the room. I will take a break for tonight and maybe do some cleaning in the morning before I try again. I just needed to vent, thanks for lending the ear.

FYI, I posted some new work, the fox and the chick being 2 of my favorites. fox.JPG chick.JPG

  1. Hi there, I wanted to introduce myself. A few months ago on Etsy I came across your work and loved it– I bought my first OrangeWillow piece at the Renegade Fair the other week (the green hummingbird print).

I love the complex drawings you create balanced with the bold-colored background.

I’m totally eyeing that cute little parrot print now, as well as um, every other one in your shop!

Great work and I’m glad (after reading your other post, I see) that you enjoyed New York! That particular part of Brooklyn has a very distinct flair.

    Anyway, take care.

    All the best,

    Rachel

    Keep up the great work.

    All the best,
