Its All About Having A Plan

Sooo… I have had a BIG problem with distractions recently. I am not short on ideas at all, I think I could fill an entire sketch book with ideas. The problem is I am overwhelmed with distractions. I have a lot of chores that need done, a huge amount of purging for example, I want to simplify my belongings. I sometimes feel like a pack rat which I think is quite easy with a kid, they outgrow toys and clothes so quickly.

Then theres the distractions of a couple shows, they aren’t too large or time consuming, just another example of a distraction. FYI, I will be on vacation for the opening at Artonomy but if you can make it check out my stuff. Lets see, more distractions, TV and movies, looking at homes (I don’t plan on moving until the fall but none the less I have been looking), and of course money, with a vacation looming I have been crunching numbers to make sure Zoe will be able to do lots of fun kiddie stuff. It just always seems like something is zooming through my thoughts and I have trouble focusing. Even though I am not short on ideas for my art I really need to clear my head and focus on my art.

I have made a list of all my distractions and am going through them one by one and eliminating them. When I am done the hope is my work will flow without life getting in the way as well as it will be easier to make time for mommy and Zoe time. I think I have more ideas than time to paint. Then on top of it all I have three children’s book Ideas I want to make time for. One is written, another is 1/3 illustrated and roughly half written, and the third is just a concept. I really believe writing and illustrating children’s books may be a calling of mine. When I work on it I get excited and my heart aches with happiness. I can’t wait to finish one and see what the rest of the world thinks. There was a time I felt uninspired though so I am appreciative that my dry spell is over.

Check out my etsy shop for some new illustrations and paintings. There were too many to list here. I will try to list them more frequently in the future. Well I am off to purge like a prom queen, ok, bad joke, sorry. But I really am off to clean away the distractions.
