I honestly have never been into politics much, I never educated myself the way I needed. Barack changed that, when he spoke I felt my hair stand on end and I had this strange sensation I later realized was Hope. Thats when I began digging and learning about all the options.  It didn’t take long for me to realize who the candidate for me was. Barack Obama has caused me to dream again, for myself and for my daughter.

Why is he the right candidate? Unlike others Barack Obama’s presidential campaign is funded entirely by grassroots supporters and as a result he owes nothing to the Health Insurance Industry, to the Oil Industry or to the Weapons Industry. When the competition can’t fight him fairly they lie and whats even sadder is people believe the lies. One thing I heard was that he was a Muslim. Barack Obama is in fact a committed and active Christian and has been a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago for 20 years. Most recently I heard hes not patriotic and refused to say the pledge of allegiance. What?! Does anyone else think this is ludicrous and desperate? According to Obama’s website his grandfather taught him to say the Pledge of Allegiance, and he regularly leads his fellow Senators as they recite it together. The fact Obama had to take the time to rebut such a goofy rumor worries me about our nation. Of course he is patriotic, he loves this country enough to want to bring about positive change.

I have also heard people spouting that the economy will crumble with Obama because he will get rid of all the tax breaks Bush put into effect. This is yet another example of people not learning the issues. Bush gave tax cuts to those who earn over $1 million that was 160 times greater than that received by middle-income Americans. Obama wants to restore fairness to the tax code, cut income taxes by $1,000 for working families. He has a tax credit plan called “Making Work Pay” which will completely eliminate income taxes for 10 million Americans.

If you have issues that are important to you I encourage you to go to his website and educate yourself the proper way. I care about education, the war in Iraq, and our economy as three main issues and every thing I read about Barack’s plans just makes me more enthused about voting. For all you other Ohioans March 4th, mark it on your calender. Lets help our country change for the good.
