So whats a boutique of handmade goods without hand bags?  Nothing I say.  We ordered some bags that have a super unique design and we are excited to bring them to our patrons.  We found However on etsy and were immediately enamored with their unique designs.

So one of the most highly anticipated artisans we will have at Pivot is Nervous Systems.  Everyone we have shown says they want one so it may be another we see sell out opening night.  I know I want several pieces as does my sister.

Obsoleteworld

So when I decided to start Pivot gallery with my sister I wanted to wait until the shop was no longer operating in the red before I began purchasing items for myself.  One artist is making me already rethink that!  This week I got in some prints from Jeannie Paske or better known as Obsoleteworld and I have already been picturing the perfect place in my home for them.  I have a feeling her work may sell out opening night.

Another individual consigning with our shop is the lovely and talented Brooke Medlin or some know her as gemmafactrix.  We will be carrying a couple of her earing designs as well as a cople ring designs.  I love that her rings come in a wide variety of sizes.  I hate when rings are available in only five or sixes.

First Featured Artist

Category: Uncategorized Published: 10:51 am Comments: 0

So the first featured artist I want to review is someone who’s work I have seen in person.  I saw Jamie’s work of Noosed Kitty when we both had booths at Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn, NY last year.  Her stuff is super fun and whimsical.  I suggest everyone check her shop out.  We are excited to present three prints and one original of hers in our shop!

Pivot Gallery and Boutique

So its official!  My sister and I are opening a Brick and Mortar shop and though the stress is high the excitement is even higher!  I have been selling my work for years at boutiques across the nation and have toyed with the idea of opening one myself.  My sister and I began discussing the idea and decided to take a stroll in MainStrasse village of Covington, KY.  By chance we walked by a shop with a rent sign in the window that was right on the main square.  After some serious thought we decided to take the leap.

We have spent a lot of time at Target and Ikea as well as at the shop to try and get it ready to open August 1st.  My sister took on the painting task and the result is a beautiful heather gray.  I got the fun task of permits and license hunting which is not an easy task on a 5 week time table.  Josh and Adam are taking on the website building and I am positive the results will be wonderful just like all the other projects Handcrafted builds.  We have contacted several artisans and already have many onboard that we are very excited about.  Stay tuned to my blog as I will be doing a feature blog post every day about different individuals consigning in the shop all the way up until the grand opeing August 1st of Pivot Boutique and gallery.

New Works and New Sale

Category: Uncategorized Published: 5:54 pm Comments: 0

So I finished some new ink drawings that are up in my shop.  Its a new squirrel, gorilla, and owl.  The squirrel is the only loane squirrel I have, all others are a part of a set.  I have a close up of a gorilla but I wanted something that would show them in all their glory.  The owl is a new perspective as well considering its in flight.

In addition to the new prints my shop is featuring a sale for a limited time only that offers buy two prints and get the third print free.  Get them while you can!

Good Times All Around

While Josh was in Portland to give a talk on his ninja skills as a rails coder I had a busy week.  The highlight of which was some good times with friends and a show at Krafthaus downtown.  The show did well and it was a lot of fun to dress up and go out.  Before the show I had dinner with an old friend, Kevin, and his wife Lisa.  Much to my delight Lisa is a doll and a kindred spirit.  Though they had fun I think Kevin was a little concerned with Lisa’s excitement to buy lots of local artists work.  Hey, its only money and a good cause, although since I was in the show I might be biased.

I was delighted to see a friend from the blogger world make an appearance that night as well.  It was so nice to meet Chris in person and then I was doubly surprised when she attended hobby night the next evening.  I think I may have pushed her into a wii fit but I love mine so much I know she won’t be disappointed.

So Josh and I talked on ichat the entire time he was gone and then Sunday he suggested I drive to Chicago where his lay over was and rather than heading home to Cincinnati we could spend a couple fun filled days in Chicago, a city I LOVE!  We had the best time and a dinner at the Stetson located in the Hyatt was INCREDIBLE.  I had lobster bisque that was to die for and the best bottle of Riesling I have ever had.  We walked Michigan avenue where we ducked into a book store to avoid the rain and ended up leaving with about a dozen new books.  We also had some Ghirardelli chocolate, a new peanut butter bar, which was super yummy as well.  A quick stop in the Disney store resulted in new toys for the kids which they whole heartedly approved up when they received them.

I spent so much time finishing my book that I have been neglecting my art but now that the book is all done I started a new painting today.  It involves a lot of detail so it might be a while before I have pictures but it feels good to get the brushes out.  The weather was beautiful today so Zoe got some fun time in the sprinkler while I painted outside.

Photoshop

Category: Uncategorized Published: 7:56 pm Comments: 0

So I am trying to learn more in photoshop so I ordered an all inclusive photoshop for dummies book.  Considering I feel like a dummy when it comes to photoshop this book seemed appropriate.  I was wondering if any others out there have any suggestion on photoshop tutorials?
